Sports shape kids in the best of ways from a very young age. With so many sports out there to choose from, it can be tough to realize which one is best. Luckily, there is a sport that holds three different activities in one – the triathlon.
One of the most important and probably simplest reasons your child should get involved in triathlons is to get them active! With three sports in one, training for a triathlon never gets old. This is a sport that constantly challenges the participant and there’s always new goals to set.
So before starting out, you'll want to know, what is a triathlon? Triathlon is an exciting sport involving a continuous race over various distances in the three disciplines of swimming, cycling and running. A standard triathlon is made up of swimming, followed by cycling, followed by running.
With so many benefits of participating in triathlons, Camp Ak-O-Mak would like to introduce the Kids In Triathlon Series (KITCan). Triathlons help children develop physical skills, stay active, make friends, learn to compete fair, and improve self-esteem. It is a motivating way for kids to get fit, have fun, and gain confidence.
Participating in triathlons also provides physical, mental and emotional benefits that can support children through improved cognitive function for better learning, improved physical literacy, and the ability to lead healthy lives with a sense of social well-being.
